I'll Need It

Early this morning, the parking lot in front of PJP Nifong was repainted with fresh yellow lines (the broken concrete parking stops were also repainted, but not repaired). And I only mention it now because I promise you that it will show up on our Common Area Maintenance charges in January as “painting” with the line item charge of $81,294 and I’ll be irritated.

Here’s what else is going on:

  1. We worked today on September’s pie tasting and we’ve made a nice habit of creating an extra kit to take home so that we can all try it together just as a ticket holder would. We tried to focus on a fall theme, even though it was 85 degrees today. We did a sweet potato pie with toasted marshmallows and candied pecans and my guess is that it will test as the favorite, though I’m always surprised at the results.

  2. And this is a hot take but I’ll ahead and say it…I’m not super sad to not be selling thousands of tarts at the now defunct Treeline Festival this weekend. Obviously, we will miss the revenue, but I won’t miss the schlepping that all through the park and setting up the booth, restocking it, stressing about it, and then taking it all down on Sunday.

  3. We are thrilled to be the feature story in the September issue of Craft to Crumb magazine. The editor-in-chief wrote a profile piece on me specifically that I actually sort of loved and that’s a rare statement. It was a fun experience.

  4. Thanksgiving orders open this Sunday, October 1st and close on Sunday, November 12th. Members of our new Pies with Benefits loyalty subscription group are able to order now.

  5. And finally, our family is going to Las Vegas on Sunday to celebrate our son’s 21st birthday. Jeanne is staying here to be the captain of the PJP ship for a few days. You likely aren’t surprised to know that I’m a terrible gambler because of my subpar math skills, but here’s hoping I hit it big on the slot machines…I’ll need it in savings for the Common Area Maintenance bill next year.
