She's Not Sorry

Today another small business called to ask me advice about sales tax payments, which is ironic because I spent the first four years of PJP being righteously indignant about sales tax. And honestly, I still am but not in a “it’s hard to pay way” but in more of a “special tax improvement districts are outrageous” sort of way.

Here’s what else is going on:

  1. Our Pecan Pie Porter beer collaboration with Logboat is back on the shelves in grocery stores across Missouri. I spotted it at Hyvee on Nifong earlier today and thought, “welp, there we are” and it never gets less weird.

  2. Our CAM tax reconcillations for each store have arrived and are sitting in my inbox. Frankly, I’m afraid to open them. Did you know that all of the tenants in a Kroenke property pay the tax and insurance for the property? This is why Stan Kroenke owns a sports team and I don’t.

  3. For years, we’ve received mail at PJP Nifong for a specific person that we’ve never heard of before. And by mail, I don’t mean junk…I literally mean state and federal documents, magazines, Christmas cards, and more. Our property mangement has never heard of him and neither has John from The UPS Store and I promise you that John from The UPS Store knows literally everyone. When I googled the person, there was only one result and it said that the person is 80 years old and lives at 503 C East Nifong Blvd…the address of our store. WHAT. At any rate, someone shipped him a luxury towel warmer from The Sharper Image today and we had to make UPS just take it back and that’s sad because that thing looked NICE and I hope this 80 year old guy has it in his bathroom soon. Except it needs to be in an actual bathroom in his actual house and not in my store on Nifong.

  4. On a practical note, the December Pie of the Month is Eggnog. Other than Pumpkin Chiffon, I’ve never see Jeanne eat pie for breakfast. What other sort of endorsement do you need?

  5. And speaking of Jeanne, thousands of people have watched her Tik Tok that featured her trying different beverages that she couldn’t see before tasting. We really tried to be nice by including two drinks she enjoys - Diet Coke and also Cranberry Juice - but as it turns out, she hated the cranberry juice we selected and she only likes Diet Coke in a can comparative to a plastic bottle, which started a war in the comments section. She’s not sorry.
